Many managers are good administrators but few are good leaders. Successful managers need to have the people skills to deal with, organize, motivate, train, and correct people. Ineffective managers often focus on improving statistics or metrics to be evaluated by management above themselves. What they need to focus on are the relationships with the people who do the work that generates those statistics.
