1. Make up a set of 10 scores such that the set of scores has a mean approximately equal to 30 and a standard deviation approximately equal to 5.
(Hint: Sketch a frequency distribution graph similar to The graph should show a pile of 10 blocks centered at 30 with most of the blocks within one standard deviation and essentially all of the blocks within two standard deviations of the mean. Then list the scores as they appear in your sketch.)
If you have access to SPSS or a similar data analysis program, calculate the mean and standard deviation for your scores. (Note: Instructions for using the latest version of SPSS are contained in Appendix C.)
