If research could show that the tendency to commit crime is inherited that is not enough to say that the individual will, or even that the individual will inherit all the traits that may or may not cause him or her to commit a crime. Children of violence prone criminals should be given every opportunity to have a fresh start at life just as individuals that weren't born to violence- prone criminals. It all boils down to choice, every individual on this earth has free will and the power to make any decision they desire. Environmental influences are a factor that should be heavily weighed when determining whether or not an individual will actually be affect by their parent's criminal activity. According to Levitt (2013) other people, organizations and structures will impinge on the decision-making processes of all actors so if the parents aren't rehabilitated (still engaging in criminal and or violent behavior) or surrounded by non criminals then the child should be taken from the home and given the option to be surrounded with positive non criminal individuals.
