Identity and performance the theories of standpoint theory

Requirements:

You must answer each of the following questions below in an essay style format. Each question must be at least 300 words in length. You may write more than the minimum length, and I encourage you to do so. Any question that is answered in less than 300 words will incur a 10-point grade plenty for each question. When writing for this midterm you can create a separate essay for each question (Three, 300-word essays) or write one comprehensive essay that discusses every question within it (One, 900-word essay).

Questions (ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE ANSWERED FOR FULL CREDIT ELIGIBILITY!):

1. In chapter 6, Identity and Performance, the theories of Standpoint Theory (109) and Positionalities (107) are used as a way to understand our cultural location and the ways we perform cultural identity. For this question I want you to locate your own standpoint and/or positionality and define and describe in detail how these details relates to the types of cultures you're a part of in a critical reflexive manner.

2. In chapter 2 the concept of hegemony (48), privilege (49), and reflexivity (45) are discussed. Often these topics are difficult to define and discuss without some tension involved. What makes these concepts so tricky to discuss and talk about? Provide specific examples for each concept that helps to define and explain each one.

3. For this final question, I want you to consider the way Ideology plays out in everyday speech (Ch. 7, 129 - 130). For example, what is being said within the coded language of telling someone to "man up"? Provide your own possible examples of the ways everyday speech is used to enforce an ideological way of being and explain your reasoning for picking those examples.
