For this homework you are to do the following:
• Pick a topic in the realm of public safety. You will want this topic to be something that has two variables, is interesting and brings a new twist to the topic. Describe your topic in the first paragraph.
• Develop and state your research question in the second paragraph. This should be in the form of a specific question. This question must be measurable and will be used to develop your unique research investigation.
• Use empirical research (information obtained from scholarly sources suffices this requirement) to help substantiate the importance of the topic. You want to emphasize the "so what" aspect.
o Note: In addressing the "so what" aspect, you will want to articulate why this topic is important, why it needs to be researched and what impact the research may have on policy.
• Identify your independent variable.
o State your independent variable and identify its level of measurement.
• Identify your dependent variable.
o State your dependent variable and identify its level of measurement.
• Conceptualize your independent and dependent variable.
o Make sure that the definition that you use to conceptualize your variables are derived from the literature. Do not make up a definition.
You need to look at existing research to determine how the variables are defined.
Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:
• The answer must be using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, typed, with one-inch margins on all sides.
• The response also includes a cover page containing the student's name, the title of the homework, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
