In order to set up a developmentally-appropriate, multicultural, anti-bias classroom, it is important to establish classroom, teacher, and child goals for the classroom you want to create. A classroom goal might be related to the learning environment. A teacher goal might be related to something that you want to learn. Your teacher goal might be at a novice level if you are new to teaching or at an advanced level if you want to enhance your multicultural, anti-bias classroom. A child goal might be to enhance the understanding of a child in a particular area of diversity such as understanding that children speak different languages.
For the purpose of this assignment, you will be a novice kindergarten teacher who wants to create a multicultural, anti-bias classroom. You will complete the reading for this assignment with a focus on examining, understanding, and the importance of goal setting and the importance of the kind of goals you set for a multicultural, anti-bias classroom. In a narrative paper, well organized by headings, respond thoughtfully and completely to the following assignment instructions:
Respond to the following statement with your own opinions and citations of others' voices: Every early childhood classroom whether it has homogenous or diverse students should be a developmentally-appropriate multicultural, anti-bias classroom.
Identify two classroom multicultural, anti-bias goals for which you will name and discuss what you will do to accomplish the goal, and what you want the outcome of the goal to be.
Identify two teacher multicultural, anti-bias goals for which you will name and discuss what you will do to accomplish the goal, and what you want the outcome of the goal to be.
Identify two-child multicultural, anti-bias goals for which you will name and discuss what you will do to accomplish the goal, and what you want the outcome of the goal to be.
Discuss why you think all of these goals will contribute to a successful multicultural, anti-bias classroom.
