During our class, we will address the topic of "Philanthropic Capital Markets" by discussing the case study "Peninsula Community Foundation." This discussion has three learning objectives:
1) Understand the intermediary function (between philanthropic capital providers and nonprofits that deliver services) of community foundations.
2) Identify the strategic implications of the blurring of boundaries between nonprofits and for-profits in the donor- advised funds field.
3) Instill in social sector leaders the need to be as skilled at entrepreneurship, innovation, and dynamic leadership as their private sector counterparts.
