Assignment: Facility Selection and Research Presentation
PowerPoint presentation on basic characteristics of facility.
Instructions
Health care facilities have uniquely defined characteristics based on the needs of the facility or population served. Poor design may lead to staff, visitor, or patient stress. In large facilities, the inability to find a department may lead to frustrations and disorientation. Poor layout may also lead to staff inefficiencies or tines because of failure to meet regulatory requirements.
Throughout this course you will design a floor plan for the facility you select in this assignment. This assignment illustrates the difficult balances between patient flow, workflow, safety, and aesthetics.
Select a facility to use in your final project. The following represent some design options available:
• Assisted Living
• Birthing Center
• Clinic
• Doctors Office
• Hematology Lab
• Hospital Security Layout
• Outpatient Clinic
• Custom Facility Plan*
Note: If a Custom Facility Plan is selected, students are responsible for emailing the faculty member for approval for selected facility prior to submitting the assignment.
Research the facility.
Develop a 7-10 slide presentation (the title slide and reference slide are not in the slide count) the summary of your facility plan that includes the following:
• Describe the facility and its purpose in the health care industry.
• Identify the populations that use the facilities.
• Identify key characteristics of the facility.
• Explain why you have selected this type of facility.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
