Scenario Analysis
Write a 3-4 page analysis where you (1) Choose one of the simple scenarios listed below (a-d) or create your own scenario. (2) Identify the key problems or issues. (3) Identify and apply one or more concept covered in your readings, or learned from your own experience that would apply to the scenario and provide some insight or guidance in solving the problem(s). Review your notes from class discussions and your texts in the course and use your own knowledge and experience to decide what concepts, theories, or ideas could be relevant. Make certain to analyze the ethical implications of the case and to support the solution you choose with solid evidence using at least 2 citations Select one of the following for your analysis:
1. Larry is deeply involved in his faith, which includes bringing religious teachings to others by going door to door in the community. Recently he brought several pamphlets to his department and set up a display on a table in the break room. There is usually other information there about activities like church socials, car washes, or fund-raisers for other church youth activities. Is this ok?
2. Wilma is a 28-year-old assistant manager. Many employees are much older than she is. There are occasional disputes between older employees and younger employees because the older employees seem to resent being "told" what to do by someone much younger. Conversely, there seems to be a lack of respect for older employees among the younger employees. Wilma has good communication skills but can be intimidated when trying to deal with older employees. What can Wilma do to bridge the gap between herself and the older employees?
3. A company has an office party. A gay employee brings his male-partner. Everyone is perfectly polite, but talks about him behind his back. How might you respond? Would his decision to come out impact his role at work?
4. A customer made it very clear that he did not want to deal with a female manager. Another customer did not want an African-American to assist him and used a racial epithet. In both cases, the employees were deeply hurt. How should this be handled with the customer and the employees?
5. Develop your own scenario.
