Complete the following exercise prior to writing the essay. Include a brief reflection of how this activity helped you identify your own intention and values:
• Select a global leader, someone (real or fictitious, famous or personal to you) that you admire.
• Identify the key characteristics that you admire about him/her.
• Recall a situation where the leader expressed some of these admirable characteristics.
• Considering that the attributes people choose in people they admire are core values they usually hold in high esteem for themselves. Reflect a few minutes if you would say these are your personal values. You can make adjustments (add/remove/change) until you come up with a final list of top 5 values to share.
• Be attentive to the connection between this assignment and the Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness Benefits Discussion. This is your opportunity to begin to identify the relationship of EI within the global context.
• Include references used to identify your selected leader, his or her characteristics and values, if you choose someone not personal to you.
• Substantiate your ideas with scholarly evidence throughout.
Compose a 1050- to 1750-word essay in response to the following prompt: Reflect on your own intention and values. Describe how they can foster emotional intelligence and mindfulness. Consider how fostering emotional intelligence and mindfulness is useful for global leaders. Focus your thesis around the prompt and structure the essay as a traditional five-paragraph type essay (though if you can make your point in less, five paragraphs are not necessary).
