Assignment task:

Collective Bargaining (100 points) Utilizing the Mock Negotiation Exercise in the course reader (Chapter 11, pp. 372 - 407) assume the role of union negotiating team. In your preparation for these negotiations complete the following:

1. Identify the issues to be negotiated and their relative priorities.

2. For each issue identify the union's underlying interests and the rationale to explain the union's issues to the management team.

3. Identify the issues that the management team will propose and their relative priorities.

4. For each management issue, anticipate the underlying interests and the rational to explain management's issues to the union team.

5. Identify issues the union would be willing to trade and the issues you anticipate that the management team might be willing to trade.

6. For each issue identify a desire settlement position, an expected settlement position, and a maximum concession position for the union issues and the management issues

7. Assess the environment in which these negotiations are occurring and identify factors which may impact the negotiations.

8. Develop opening statements for both the union and management teams.
