Assignment task:
This week you were introduced to the basics of research design. This assignment gives you an opportunity to begin thinking about it in an applied context.
Using what you learned from both the lecture material and chapter 1 of Trochim and Donnelly, identify the design features of Caprioli and Boyer, 2001, "Gender, Violence, and International Crisis" (For example: What is the research question? What kind of relationship are they studying? What are the variables and what types of variables are they? etc.)
Throughout the course, we will continue to refer back to Caprioli and Boyer as a running example, identifying and discussing different aspects of their research design. This assignment, then, will serve as a baseline reference so you can see your progress as you progress through the course.
Assignment requirements:
1. Identify the research design features in Caprioli and Boyer (2001)
- For example: What is the research question? What kind of relationship are they studying? What are the variables and what types of variables are they? etc.)
2. Include your name, date, course, page numbers and title
3. Standard 12-point font and 1-inch margins
4. You should fully answer the question at hand.
