2. To help you become familiar with how human services agencies are organized by visiting and evaluating their website.
Select a human services agency's website that provides social support services to people in need. The agency voluntary, not for profit agency based in New York City and provide direct services to clients. Hospitals and medical facilities are excluded as an agency site
1. The name, address, and link to website for the agency.
2. Identify the agency mission statement. Write a one paragraph statement regarding your thoughts on the mission statement for the agency
3. Provide a description of the services provided by the agency. Identify any information available regarding cost of services, insurance necessary? Sliding scale fee schedule?
4. Provide information on who uses the services of the agency, who is eligible for services, how does one apply for services?
5. Describe what kind of staff provides services at the agency. Identify if there are any jobs available at the agency and if so, what are the different job titles? Is there any position you would be interested in? If so, why?
6. Identify budget information for the agency. Is the agency bringing in more money (revenue) than they are spending (expenditures/liabilities? Has does the agency budget look for the most current year over the previous year?
7. Identify three major supporters of the agency who are providing financial support or other in-kind of support. Clue: this information can be found in the Agency's Annual Report.
8. Identify why you chose this agency? What makes this agency of interest to you and any other thoughts you have regarding the agency. Would you think this would be an interesting place to work? Why? Why not?
9. Was the website user friendly? How do think a client looking for services would find the website? Is there information missing from the website that you think would be helpful? What aspect of the website do you think worked well, was most meaningful?
