Write four essays on your takeaways from the class in the following four areas. Be sure to answer all parts of the question.
Ideology
We discussed a number of ideologies during the class. This included: socialism, nationalism, communism, Pan-Africanism, conservatism, liberalism. Please identify and explain in detail the ideology closest to your own beliefs. Describe how it influences how you vote and understand issues in the black community.
Personalities
There have been many, many leaders in black political history. Please identify a key individual that you had never heard of before this class in black politics and discuss their biography, the group or community they worked with or represented, their accomplishments andtheir failures. Discuss how their legacy has impacted on you personally and how you think about black politics.
Organization
Identify one contemporary black organization either local or national. Please describe their importance to you and what you think they are doing to better the black community. Describe their history, leadership, base of support, goals, accomplishments, and failures.
Public Policy
Identify one specific policy issue; how it impacts the black community, legislation or proposed legislation to address the issue, and who organizing around the issue. Argue what you see as the positive or negative nature of the policy solutions being proposed.
