Problem: Joy Barker, a 72-year-old lady, has been admitted to your ward with acute deterioration of daily functioning. She has a diagnosis of a rare small cell carcinoma, diagnosed ?ve (5) months ago. Since then, she has been having cancer treatment which includes chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She is still in the active phase of treatment. Doctors had thought that they could get her into remission, but they have been unsuccessful. Her family have brought her in to see if there is a medical reason for her deterioration and confusion. 0n collecting her history, she reveals that she is not eating, her fluid intake is poor, and she has taken to lying in bed most days and is more unstable on her feet. She is currently ordered MS Contin for pain management. '
