"The Black Cat" by Edgar Allan Poe
1. One of the main motifs in the story is that of revenge. Identify instances of revenge and unite this pattern to a central theme or idea Poe is suggesting, surrounding the motif of revenge.
2. Throughout the tale, the narrator commits a number of criminal acts which, instead of trying to conceal, he seems purposely to expose. Examine the plot of the story and the narrator's actions to decide his role in his own downfall. Use examples to support your opinion.
