Homework: Key Thinkers in Communication
For your project, you will focus on one of the key thinkers you selected from Part A of this homework. You will design a visual essay using the platform of your choice. Within the essay, you will explain what the key thinker has contributed to the fields of communication and media studies and how they specifically relate to your own interests in the fields. Additionally, you will draw connections between the ideas of the selected key thinker and the principles of communication and media discussed in this course. Lastly, you will apply one main theory, conceptualized by the selected key thinker, to a current piece of media, popular culture trend, or issue in our society.
Instructions:
Create a visual essay that is 5 to 7 minutes in length addressing the following:
• A brief bio of your key thinker. (No more than a few sentences).
• A description of their key contribution to either their field of communication or media studies.
• What are they known for? If they have contributed numerous theories, please identify all or most.
• Why are their contributions important to either field? Did their particular contributions lead to the development of any other theories, areas of study, policies?
• Identify the connection between the key thinker and your specific interests within the field.
• How does the key thinker, and their contributions, inform or aid your specific interest?
• Identify and describe the connection between the key thinker, and their ideas/contributions and any of the principles of communication and media we discussed in the course.
• Explain the theory in detail.
• Select one theory or idea of the key thinker.
Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:
• The answer must be using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, typed, with one-inch margins on all sides.
• The response also includes a cover page containing the student's name, the title of the homework, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
• Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
