Steve is a senior executive at a pharmaceutical company and has recently returned from an overseas trip to South America, where he took time out to reconnect with nature. Along the way he heard about a program where remote villages welcomed visitors for 10 days to experience “living off the land”. During his stay he learnt about self-sufficiency – building shelter, maintaining a campfire and sourcing food from his environment. He was so inspired by this adventure, that upon his return home he approached Peter a rural farmer who specialises in native plants and bush tucker tours on his own property. Although Peter has been living on the farm for 25 years, he has only recently been running formal tours for the past 10 months. Steve asked Peter to see if he could replicate the initiative described to him as part of a team building exercise with staff from his department. As head of Personnel, you are excited by the opportunities and volunteer to organise the exercise. You have been given three (3) weeks with a budget of $5,000 to plan the team building event for 10 of his senior Project Managers. He would like you to set up a 24 hour challenge similar to his visit in South America. It will be left to you to determine elements of the challenge. Peter has volunteered as the guide for the group as he has done this before and has proper insurance and permits.
