Part I - Essay
For the Unit I Essay, using the information in your assigned readings and experiences, please select a conflict you
observed recently. In a 500-word response, identify and discuss the following:
1. Identify and interpret the characteristics of the negotiation situation.
2. Describe the levels of and functions/dysfunctions of the conflict.
3. Explain the style you would use, or did use, to resolve the interpersonal conflict.
4. Explain the positions taken in negotiation.
Your assignment must:
Be a minimum of 500 words.
Include an introduction which summarizes the main points of the essay and identifies the relevance of the assignment to the course topic(s).
Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA format.
Include a cover page containing the tile of the assignment (Unit I-Essay), the student's name, the professor's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
Part II - Assessment Question
The dual concerns model is a two-dimensional framework for effective conflict management. Interpret the dual concerns model and the five major strategies for conflict management. Reflecting on, and using examples from past experiences, identify and discuss a situation in which you had high concern about other's outcomes and a situation where you had high concern about your own outcomes.
Your response should be at least 200 words in length. You are required to use at least your textbook as source material for your response. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations.
