Research Question:
Choose any one from (government, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations):
Assess information, formulate arguments, and critically evaluate different alternatives to issues or problems.
Identify and describe the human services sector you have chosen:
o General overview of what services are available, and who delivers services (government, not-forprofit, for-profit)
• Identify and discuss the target client groups in this sector, and summarize primary needs
o Who are the clients? (access census data, etc.)
o What needs might they have? (employment, training, family counselling, child services, advocacy etc.)
o What is the history of welfare provision to this client group? (What types of organisations have tried to "help"? Overview of successes, failures, etc.)
- Identify some key organisations committed to providing services, and compare and contrast the governance, reporting and funding structures of government, not-for-profit and for-profit organisations in the sector (using 3 or more examples)
- Compare and contrast how eligibility for services is established (If you were seeking help, what would you need to do?)
- Discuss the different ethical challenges of government, not-for-profit and for-profit providers (Who do these organisations help, and why?)
- Describe how might you empower clients to access services (What could you encourage them to do? Could you identify strengths they already have? Who could they talk to? Etc.)
I just want to know some basic ideas regarding this.
