Corporate Codes of Conduct and compliance offices are common in businesses. Search the Internet for a corporate-wide Code of Conduct for a Fortune 500 company.
Identify and briefly describe the company selected.
Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the Code of Conduct.
Has the company established a compliance office or instituted other measures to ensure that the values and standards articulated in the Code of Conduct are followed? If so, give two examples; if not, give two recommendations for improvement. Finally, does the Code reflect a company value system grounded in Utilitarianism, Kantianism, or Profit Maximization? What led you to that conclusion?
Keeping in mind that illegal acts are just that, illegal, and ethical conduct is going above and beyond the minimum required by law, it is still interesting to investigate when companies have not even met the minimum.
