Homework: Letter to a Legislator
Preparation
In this exercise, you will write a two-page letter to your state or federal representative about a current health care issue being discussed in the U.S. View Healthy People 2020 - Topic Areas at a Glance on the CDC website and select a topic from the list provided. Research where your representative stands on your chosen health care issue as well as where the medical profession (professional organizations, practicing medical professionals, patients, and other advocates) stands on the issue.
Task
In your letter, include the following:
1) Identify a health care issue that is currently being discussed at the state or national level.
2) Summarize your representative's position on your selected health care issue.
3) Explain why you agree or disagree with your representative's position.
4) Include data and evidence to align your position from the CDC's Healthy People 2020 - Topic Areas at a Glance and/or other government agencies.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
(1) The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
(2) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
(3) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
