Cultural Analysis
1. Identify a culture to which you belong. You can choose your family, a religious affiliation, a social group, the US, etc. Define this culture by answering the following questions: who is in your culture? What beliefs, values, attitudes are central to your culture? Provide examples to support your answers. (2-3 paragraphs)
2. Read pg. 47-52 in Think Communication to learn about the 5 dimensions of culture. After reading the text, choose 3 cultural dimensions that best describe the culture you identified in Question 1. (Example: if your culture masculine or feminine? Is your culture individualist or collectivist? Does your culture exemplify high or low power distances? Etc.). Be sure to explain your choices using examples from your experience. (3-5 paragraphs).
