For the purposes of this assignment, agriculture includes food and fiber production, processing, sales, farm equipment sales, and other areas close to farming. Interview family members to determine your ancestors who have been involved in agriculture. When you find the most recent generation, refer to the Ag Classroom timeline and determine if the events identified on the timeline connect in some way to your family's farming experience. (The Ag Classroom timeline shows U.S. events. If your family links to agriculture in another country, you'll have to do some research to find historical events that impacted your family's farming.) Discuss these connections and how events affected your family and their farming. You might also identify other historical events (not specifically shown on the timeline) that affected your family's agricultural practices in the U.S.

Write a short essay describing and examining your family's connections to farming / agriculture.
Requirements:
Minimum 500 words
Minimum four distinct paragraphs with topic sentences
Intro to subject
Analyze at least one narrow topic / connection.
Provide evidence, experience or both to the connection(s).
Connect (explicate) to the larger historical discourse/conversation surrounding the farm.
Fully cited references in MLA style (including citations for personal interviews)
Study a small portion of the text and how it contributes to meaning. Connect or contrast to other texts. Develop complex ideas that go beyond surface reading. This will require addition research.
Present information from reliable source found outside of the reading to add context
References author and title with appropriate use of quotation marks and italics
Use of proper grammar, punctuation, capitalization, abbreviation, etc... Use terms common to the discipline and avoid passive voice.
