Assigned Reading: The American Yawp, Chs. 12 & 13
Please answer each of the following questions: Please use one source for each question in parenthesis from chapter 12 and 13
1) Briefly discuss some of the key people, ideas, and events associated with Manifest Destiny. Please note that this is a huge question that you're free to narrow down; for example, you might focus on the Mexican American War in California, the Texas revolt, President Polk, etc.
2) Discuss the impact of the expansion of the United States on the Native American population. You can take a broad view, or focus on a particular tribe and/or incident.
3) How did westward expansion enflame tensions between the North and South? How did the regions attempts to assuage such tensions?
