Identify and discuss the need to maintain and redesign a website. If you were the webmaster at a large company, what methods might you incorporate to ensure your website is well designed, current, and meets the requirements of your web audience?

Maintaining a website is crucial in any business. If you create a website and do not keep every thing up to date. You are leaving your site out to dry. If you can not attract customers or have them to refer your site, than you might as well close it down. Why would you spend all that money using a web hosting service and not stay up with the times. Most of the web hosting sites were about a $100 a month. That is $1200 in profit dollars that you will never get back. Then the lost revenue from no business on top of that. Then you have to deal with the plug ins being up to date, but your site is stuck in time from 5 years ago.
One thing you could do to find out if your site is bad. Set up a focus group and listen to their feed back. Every body loves free food. Cater a small group of people and get their input. People love free food and to give their opinion on every thing. What's a couple hundreds of dollars if you can improve your revenue by thousands.

The thing about maintaining a website is you have to remember sometime servers do go down. If there is a bug it's going to go down, if it's overloaded it will go down. It all depends on the server and web hosting website you pick. I would pick someone that is well known. If they're well known then you know that it won't go unnoticed should you have problems. I have seen a website that I'm a part of and their servers go down all the time. Sometime it's taken them two days to get the site up and running again. That's annoying when you have tons of stuff to do on the site. I think navigation plays a big spot too. People like going to sites where they can find things easy. I just thought that easy navigation would play into a big part of that. Also so would cleanliness and no clutter.

It's important to maintain your website, because that is the first place people go to find out information about your business and the services you offer. Redesigning your site is always a good ideal, because it could possibly increase sales and revenue. When redesigning your site the ideal is to attract more visitors, and those visitors could possibly turn into future customers. If I was the webmaster at a large company I would make sure my design has a lot of valuable content to offer to my visitors. I also would add a blog to my website, which will allow my visitors, and customers to give me their ideals on any improvement I may need.
