(i) On the average, particles are separated by a distance of the order of 10-10 m and exert a force of attraction of the order of 10-11 N on each other.
(ii) The force of attachment among the molecules is because of electrical interaction among the charges, as the gravitational force among two molecules at a distance of 10-10 m is only of the order of 10-50 N.
(iii) Particles forces do not obey inverse square law.
(iv) The molecular forces are effective only over short distances. For that point, they are called as short-range forces.
(v) The maximum distance up to which a particle can attract some other molecules is called as the range of the intermolecular forces.
