For the hypothetical aquaculture project you have proposed in your local area (yellow perch RAS), evaluate it for any possible positive and negative impacts with a summary in a simple Environmental Impact Statement.
At the end of your EIS, please include at least one paragraph that explains how this assignment relates to environmental impacts at your World Atlas site (Matagorda Bay, Texas; oyster farm) and how you intend to incorporate this learning into your course project (Entry into the World Atlas of Aquaculture)
Your EIS will be much more basic than the evaluation of a major project like a bridge, but it must include:
A description of the proposed development (Purpose and Need; Proposed Action and Alternatives; Affected Environment; Expected Impacts; Local Approvals Needed),
The data necessary to identify and assess both the positive and negative impacts that the development is likely to have on the local environment,
A description of the measures employed to mitigate/enhance these effects,
A non-technical summary.
My proposed local project is a land based RAS system growing yellow perch, smallmouth bass, or walleye, near the eastern basin of Lake Erie, NY. (I chose RAS because of the harsh winters). My course project (atlas entry) is an oyster farm in Matagorda Bay, Texas.
