Hyper-threading officially known as Hyper-threading Technology (HTT) is Intel's trademark for their functioning of simultaneous multithreading technology on Pentium 4 micro-architecture. It is fundamentally a more advanced form of Super-threading which was first introduced on Intel Xeon processors and sub-sequentially added to Pentium-4 processors. This technology improves processor performance under certain workloads by offering useful work for execution units which would otherwise be idle E.g. at the time of cache miss.
