Assignment:
Objective:
To create a realistic pre-production schedule for your music video or feature film shoot using industry standards.
To practice designing an Excel spreadsheet that communicates a schedule to all stakeholders on a production team.
Articulate how your production schedule will affect your budget.
Instructions:
Using the skills you learned in Data Analysis and Reporting about presenting data and formatting, create a GANNT chart to visually lay out the Pre-Production Schedule for your movie or music video. There are three stages in the production process: pre-production, production, or post-production. The resources below explain what activities occur during each stage and how long they typically take. However, you may need to conduct research to find out how long pre-production took for the movie or music video you have selected to work on.
Make sure that your schedule is visually appealing and matches the branding of your movie or music video, i.e.: color, title font, headings, etc.
Make sure to include a title that explains the purpose of the spreadsheet you design. For example, "Step Up: Pre-Production Schedule."
Add a cell comment explaining what activity will take the longest versus cost the most and why. This must be at least 2 sentences long and demonstrate critical analysis of the factors affecting your budget.
