I had been a clinical research associate (CRA) for 16 years since graduating from nursing college in 2007, for 10 years in South Korea and 6 years in the US. By the time I started doing monitoring visits in the US, I had to pull everything out of the internet: where the site was, how to get there, what sort of logistics were involved in meeting the investigator, the pharmacy, and the clinical staff. On these intensive searches, I came across ResearchGate, a site where I could raise difficult questions about clinical trials and connect with others in similar positions. Although many sites aren't always trustworthy, and most clinical researchers continue to use other resources such as the officially authorized site, I believe ResearchGate was an invaluable tool for me as a CRA because it allowed me to draw on my work experience, emotional support, and data-based decisions in order to make better decisions.
