Assignment Task: I want you to reflect on what the chapter readings make. Think about how the material applies to life. While you read each chapter in the future. Also answer some of the questions found in the chapter or do one of the activities. The only guideline is that composes two detailed paragraphs and includes at least one direct quote from the chapter. Put it in quotation marks and then what page it is from. Example: "Quote" (p.10).
Here are some samples questions want to address, how structure journal entries:
1. How have you developed your attitudes and values regarding sex? What factors have influenced your attitudes? Have you tried to form your own standards?
2. What are your thoughts about the discussion in this chapter on developing your own sexual values?
3. What are your thoughts about celibacy as an option? What importance do you place on being able to cultivate emotional intimacy without physical intimacy?
4. What are some of your concerns regarding sexual attitudes or sexual behavior?
5. What do you consider to be normal and abnormal in sexual relationships, behavior, and attitudes? How have you developed your concepts of what is normal and what is abnormal? What norms, standards, and guides do you use? Are standards of sexual normality simply products of social and cultural conditioning?
6. What kinds of sexual ethics would you like your children to develop? Do you want them to have your sexual values? If not, why not? In what ways do you hope they might be different?
7. If you believe in sex outside of a committed relationship, what kind of responsibility do you think should be involved?
8. What are your thoughts about hook-up culture? How has this changed relationships today compared to relationships 20 years ago?
