How would you manage phone call from the patient

Problem: The follow-up clerk in your registry office gets a phone call from a patient. The patient had received a follow-up letter in the mail that same day and was calling to find out the details of his last progress note from his oncologist in the hospitals electronic medical record. Once the patient states his name over the phone, the follow-up clerk kindly looks up the patients information in the EMR and tells the patient the information that he wants to know. The patient is inquiring about lab values, treatment plans, and further details of his last visit. The patient then graciously thanks the clerk for the information and hangs up the phone. Pretend you are the follow-up clerk in the above scenario. How would you manage this phone call from the patient? Would you follow any HIPAA guidelines? What, if anything, would you not disclose to the patient? Please explain by stating your thoughts in Discussions. Need Assignment Help?
