Problem
You are a key member of a Performance Improvement team working on a materials management project. One aspect of the project is to observe the delivery and storage of supplies to nursing units. Several internal TJC compliance audits have revealed outdated materials on the units, which is one of the indicators that prompted your project.
You are paired with a team member from nursing: a unit clerk who is very opinionated on the subject and thinks that materials management is being unfairly targeted. Instead of just collecting the data, she has already several times "supervised" the process and ensured that the delivery person rotated the stock every time.
1) How would you address this employee?
2) How would you handle a situation where a colleague or subordinate is having trouble understanding your process or solution?
