Assignment:
Put in own words
Jackson's view of the highway as the new leisure space for Americans makes me wonder how he would feel about the internet and social media. Like the highways and interstates, the internet has been shaped by capitalism, popular culture and government intervention. It is the new escapism, an even more modern "vacationland" where the public goes to forget its troubles. Would Jackson take the same view of pop-up ads as he does of billboards? Would he see social media as a type of landscape, similar to the strip mall, that has inherent beauty?
