i. What are the different components of the Satanic Panic conspiracy narrative? In other words, what did the adherents of this "cultural discourse" believe was going on in America in the 1980s? What kinds of people (religious, political, etc.) were drawn to the satanic narrative and why did it appeal to them?
ii. How do the authors of The Satanism Scare regard the claims of "anti-satanists"? How will this affect the way they study the panic? What problems do they find with the evidence presented to support claims of satanic cult activity?
iii. Why did claims of satanic influnce, ritual abuse, and other occult activity become so prominent in the 1970s and 1980s? What roles did religious leaders, government, law enforcement, and the media play?
