How will each be modified and where will modification occur

Problem

Some aspects of mid-latitude cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere are similar to those of the north. They have low pressure at the surface, rotate, form east of upper-level troughs, move from west to east, and have fronts and bad weather. They both are used on the same maps with Iso bars showing the closer the bars in the more action happening as far as weather related.

They also have differences. Different are the following: warm air is to the north and cold air to the south, and the rotation is clockwise due to the opposite Coriolis effect than the northern hemisphere.

1) Discuss how a continental Arctic (cA) type of air mass developed in the Southern Hemisphere will invade areas as it moves toward the equator compared to the same type of air mass and motion in the Northern Hemisphere. Again, use your critical thinking skills and think about this carefully.

a) How are each formed? Very cold dry air takes place during winter typically at the N pole comes from the high areas

b) How will each be modified and where will this modification occur? Use latitudes and/or surface features in your descriptions. Both in northern and southern hemisphere can move over the ocean, picking up some warmth and moisture from the warmer ocean and becoming a maritime polar air mass.

c) Will there be changes to the Southern Hemispheric cA-type air mass that are not observed in the Northern Hemisphere? If so, specify.? I think in the southern hemisphere it would change much quickly from a CA to a MP as approaching equator.
