How well the introduction sets the scene

Homework I: Evaluate Policies Regulating Social Work Practice and Compare Ethical Standards

Length: 3 to 5 pages.

After reading the Code of Ethics thoroughly, select the three ethical principles that you identify as most important in contracting for services with a client or client system. In a brief paper, clearly discuss the legal implications of the ethical principle and what potential issues may arise in establishing the contract, such as keeping information confidential when working with a couple in conflict with each other, or issues when working with a child in foster care who has biological parents, foster parents, and a caseworker. (Do not use these examples for your homework.) Indicate how your selected principles would be applicable for your examples.

Then, briefly discuss how you would apply ethical decision-making to the contracting process with a client system. Your submission should reflect a significant understanding of the concepts of ethical principles, legal issues, and the process of ethical decision-making as applied to the early stages of treatment with a client system.

Homework II: Use Ethics in Social Work Practice

Length: 15 to 20 minutes.

Locate the website of the licensing board for social work practice in your jurisdiction (state or province). After reviewing the regulations for practice in your jurisdiction, identify and evaluate three regulatory issues that apply to contracting with the client system discussed in the first homework.

With this information, prepare a podcast to help educate your colleagues who may be newly practicing social workers in your jurisdiction. Discuss the difference in the regulatory issue from the ethical principle and how both may apply to the contract with your client system. The distinctions should be made in your discussion, with the mandate of what you must do in the process clearly differentiated from what you should do in establishing the contract for services. You may use any software you like to record your podcast. Instructions for using Audacity are included in this week's resources.

Podcasts are assessed considering the following:

i. How well the introduction sets the scene;
ii. Clarity, accuracy, and relevance of content;
iii. Whether the conclusion provided a clear summary of the main points;
iv. The structure and flow of the podcast, and
v. Technical sound quality (volume and clarity). Creativity is also considered.

Support your podcast with at least two scholarly or professional resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including seminal articles, may be included.

Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:

i) The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
