Assignment task:
Your friend indicates that they want to complete Dry July (not consuming any alcohol for the month of July) as a way to reduce their alcohol consumption, but they still want go out to clubs/bars on the weekend where they think they'll be tempted to drink. Choose a model of behaviour change from the course content to?help illustrate factors that might influence whether or not your friend is likely to be successful in changing their health behaviour.
My friend's Dry July success is influenced by having a positive attitude towards the benefits of abstaining from alcohol consumption like financial savings, improved mental clarity, accidents/ health problems relating to intoxication. It determines their intrinsic motivation towards changing their health behaviour over short-lived drinking pleasure outcomes. However due to subjective norms, if my friend harbours doubts of being seen as odd, less fun, swaying away from normality or distant from their group, it can pose a social challenge for them. This external pressure and internal conflict, especially if they associate drinking with positive emotions with relaxation or joy, combined with personal desires to belong and be socially accepted, might weaken their resolve, leading to stress and adverse health behaviours instead. Overall, if my friend feels control over their choices, and feels equipped to resist alcohol consumption in clubs or bars, it increases their success of staying dry during July. Identifying potential challenges prior to beginning Dry july and preparing strategies, like ordering non-alcoholic drinks or having a Dry July buddy, can bolster this self-belief and they can feel included in their social life. Their perceived behavioural control will be the linchpin for success in changing their health behaviour.
Does this answer the question? How can i shorten it without loosing the meaning. This is my work.
