How we treat the environment


Assignment Task: Both Carson and Diamond are making ethical arguments about the environment. Carson argues that we have the right to know about deadly chemicals and nuclear proliferation because we have an obligation to future generations, the "obligation to endure," in her words. Diamond argues that we need to see ourselves as a global "polder" instead of distinct, competing tribes. In sum, they are drawing a direct line between how we treat the environment and how we treat one another (ethics).

1- How do these two authors support their arguments? What evidence do they offer?
