According to 2020 national estimate about 25% of Black women between 18 and 30 have fibroids compared to about 6% of white women (Mostafavi, 2020). At about age 35, the number increases to 60% (Mostafavi, 2020). Black women are more more likely to have complication such as hysterectomy's as a result of fibroids and they are also more likely to have recurrence of fibroids. By age 50, 70 t0 80 percent of women will have fibroids (McCartan, 2022). The majority of this occurrence will be in black women. A goal of my proposal for change is to increase awareness of none surgical options that will preserve a woman's reproductive system. According studies 60 percent of women are not aware of the none surgical and less invasive option which is uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).
