Message: "I do believe dialogue with others can help minimize the unwarranted fear towards certain subjects that many people may feel. When we are stuck in our own minds, the smallest things can be played up and become huge sources of worry and fear simply because we assume the worst and only think about the ways in which things can go wrong if we are already in that mindset. However, talking to others can help minimize that fear because discussions lead to introductions of various ideas and viewpoints. Aspects of the situation that one may not have considered can be brought up by someone else. I see this happen constantly, especially in my own life. A very basic example is when my aunt was worried about her small business during the pandemic. She was afraid of what would happen, as I am sure many people were, and she was constantly thinking the worst and only assuming negative outcomes. However, when she talked to other small business owners and family members, she was able to find out information that was going to actually help small business owners from having to close down. Without these discussions between people, she would have continued to fear the worst."
