How to make Project Team feel safe and want to be a part of the team
In many organization employees are always afraid and careful when performing their daily duties since they feel their job is not secured and can be fired any time by their employers. From Simon Sinek speech we are told of a story of a man by the name Captain William Swenzam who works in the military and was involved in saving soldiers' lives in Afghanistan. After saving one of the soldiers who was wounded at the neck with a gunshot, he gave the soldier a kiss and went to save the rest. This shows the love of the captain to the juniors.
In the same way as a leader of the project my employees need to feel safe and want to be associated with the team. Many a time's employees feel they are surrounded by the danger of being fired any time. As the head of the project I will assure my employees of their job security by encouraging them instead of rebuking them once they have made a mistake during the ongoing project work. At some point I will sacrifice my resources for them to make them feel wanted and encouraged in the course of the project. Sometimes it is necessary to buy for them gifts and provide for them nice meals. When they make a mistake, show them how to do it right and not to fire them. This will improve the trust of the employees and motivate them to work towards the completion and the success of the project. Allow the employees to feel safe in the project by giving them enough freedom to perform their job as assigned and allow them to make mistakes so that they can do it right later on. In conclusion I will always listen to the views of my juniors and implement some of their good ideas about the way forward and any improvements required as we continue with the project.
