Assignment Part I:
1. We all have come into this course with values and beliefs around professional presence, whether they emanate from our own work experiences and organizational norms, or based on what we have observed in watching how professionals present themselves. What does professionalism and professional presence mean to you?
2. Verbal and nonverbal communications are a big part of presence. Knowing this, how has your perspective on professional presence evolved throughout this course?
Assignment Part II:
1. Professional presence can be challenged by unprofessional attitudes and behaviors of other people, including colleagues and supervisors. Negative encounters with patients can shake our professional demeanor. What are some strategies to maintain your own professionalism when someone else is not being professional?
2. Online professional presence is another aspect of how we represent ourselves. Identify a LinkedIn profile of someone in the healthcare industry today - it can be someone you know or someone random. Share with your classmates something about the profile that you felt was well done and demonstrated a positive online presence. Conversely, describe something that you feel could be improved to help with their online presence.
3. What takeaways from this week and this course overall will you carry forward into your professional life to improve your professionalism and professional presence?
