1. There is much debate in how to fix our public school systems, which focuses more and more on teachers. As with any area of education, teachers unions have not been exempt from changes throughout the years and currently deal with educational reform. The National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers are two prominent unions focused on important issues such as attacks on teachers' rights to collectively bargain, teacher tenure, teacher pay, and high stakes testing. However, these unions are sometimes controversial. Do these unions improve school instruction by improving teacher morale and fostering conditions that improve teaching and learning? Explain.
2. Discuss how your personal ethics influence your decision making as a teacher in relation to student learning and achievement. How does your Christian worldview play a part in your role as a teacher and what effect do your beliefs have on how you deal with students in the public school system?
