You stated " I believe in the Big Bang theory because they proved with evidence that the universe is supported by justified evidence gathered." But I am not sure that 'they' "proved" anything yet. There are multiple theories floating around even in regards to what is "established" knowledge.
Also, I urge you to emphasize theories used in the social sciences; as I see it--and as C. Wright Mills as well--many social scientists presume to be working in a field of absolutes (i.e., the natural sciences). Such a view of our discipline is troubling at best, because no matter how scientific we may perceive ourselves to be; we cannot control the forces we deal with (i.e., societies, institutions, people). So, does that shift the way you view the role of theories?
