This essay assignment is about corruption issues in China. This is a topic that is at the center of Chinese politics, culture and economy.
The objective of this essay is twofold. The first is to learn something about Chinese culture and social relationships. Secondly, it is intended to reinforce a social scientific analytical skill. Recall from chapter 1 that one of things social scientists try to do is to draw out causal relationships. As was pointed out in the chapter, this is not an easy thing to do. At best, we can identify correlations and try to determine what the underlying causal dynamic truly is. In this assignment, the causal relationship is between corruption and Guanxi.You are not tasked to prove that such a relationship exist but simply to explore somewhat loosely the correlation between personal networking and high levels of corruption in China.
The essay is double spaced and it has to be 2 pages in length. Also, you need to cite, at least, two sources. The textbook, wikipedia, google, yahoo are not sources. They are resources; therefore, do not cite them!
