How the universe age is calculated

Task 1: Imagine you were hanging out with a younger sibling or cousin now in 8th grade. You tell them you just learned that the universe is 13.8 billion years old. They ask, "how do you know?"

How would you explain to them how the universe's age is calculated? Remember to explain it so that an 8th grader would understand. Be careful not to plagiarize any of the lectures or materials you reviewed this week.

Task 2:

Imagine you were co-designing a museum exhibit about the lifecycle of a star. Your team has already agreed to use a linear illustration where the viewer reads left to right, seeing the star age from young to old as they scan the illustration.

You need to show where different elements play a role in this evolution by placing small plaques with information at different places in this illustration. Select 5-7 elements and show where you would place them, and write 2-3 sentences, so the museum audience understands what role the element plays. You'll have to fit a lot of info in a small space so focus on what is most important!  You can draw this out.
