How the peace of westphalia changed our understanding

Problem:

It was discussed how the Peace of Westphalia changed our understanding of international relations by creating modern nation states and establishing the principle of sovereignty. However, the development of Human Rights law in the 19th century and particularly the later part of the 20th century through today has challenged these Westphalian principles. In your essay explain how the idea of human rights and its incorporation into international law has altered how states relate to one another at the international level. Specifically, address how human rights is problematic for the traditional understanding of sovereignty, but also how this traditional understanding has influenced human rights law and its enforcement internationally. In addition, consider how at least one other variable (e.g. world war, international social movements, globalization, the Cold War, etc...) also has influenced both the enforcement and creation of international human rights law.
