I never thought of how the organizations and people are just as important to information systems as the technology. If I was explaining this concept to new I would explain that Information Systems is not just about the technology as in the software and hardware. It is also important to recognize just how important the people and organizations who use the technology are. This would give them an easier understanding that they must take into consideration that all three aspects. I would then divide the concept of information system in three categories so that I could thoroughly explain each concept to a new a student. This would allow them to understand just how important and interconnected each dimension is. I would begin by explaining how the Organization dimension is important. I would mention that organizations help develop and adapt hardware to meet their specific business processes. An example of this would be companies perform business processes such as selling products, customer relations, information storage, and other such things. I would then go on to the People Dimensions of information systems. I would explain that the people dimension is important because in order to have an information system that is effective, the individuals who develop and maintain them must be experienced and well trained to do so. I would then provide an example of this. According to Laudon and Laudon (2011), a good example of this would be a customer relations system. If we have employees that do not have the know how to use such systems, the customer relation systems would not be effective in the business processes. I would last go into the technology dimension of information systems. I would explain about some of the critical components such as the hardware, software data management technology, and networking and telecommunications. I would also explain that the World Wide Web is a critical part of the technological part as well.
